On Friday May 3, 2024 at 7:40 AM, we invite parents, familities, and faculty to join us for a May Crowning Mass and Continental Breakfast celebrated. May is the month of Mary with the tradition of coronation, which is one form of reverence frequently shown to images of our Blessed Mother.
The ancient practice of veneration of images of Christ, Mary, and saints dates back to the early Christians and the Council of Nicea. Today, we place a crown on Mary’s head during the opening procession. We pray and rejoice with her that one day we may share in dignity when we ourselves may receive the “crown of glory.” Classes will start at the regular time of 8:25 AM.
Mass will conclude around 8:10, so faculty should have enough time to grab a coffee and pastry before 5th period. Parents are welcome to enjoy the continental breakfast until 9:00 AM. All are invited to bring flowers.
